This show is sold out!

However, we often have people contact us at the last minute with conflicts or emergencies and ask if we can help sell the tickets and/or sometimes artists will release seats that had been reserved for them. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list, please contact Gary at 231-557-7687. It happens!

In the event tickets do become available, we will contact those on the waiting list in the order requests received. If you don't answer the call, we will move on to the next person on the list, and so on, so even if you know there is a waiting list, we encourage you to get on the waiting list if you would like to attend the concert. We have seen people quite a ways down the list get the opportunity to attend simply because no one else could get to their phone. Good luck!

YOU. DON’T. WANT. TO. MISS. THIS. CONCERT.

Darlingside has been here twice. They opened for a sold out Lake Street Dive at Meijer Gardens last summer. Multiple people asked us why Darlingside hadn’t been to Seven Steps Up. And we kept saying. Twice. They’ve been here twice. When we say you don’t want to miss this concert, we mean it. Because it’s not likely that this band will be back on our small stage!

Darlingside (Don Mitchell, Auyon Mukharji, Harris Paseltiner, and David Senft) are a Massachusetts-based ensemble whose sound is an eclectic blend of 60s folk, clever wry wit, classical arrangements, soaring harmonies, and a modern indie-rock sensibility. The four vocalists and multi-instrumentalists construct every piece collaboratively, pooling ideas so that each song bears the imprint of four different writing voices. Playful vocal permutations swing from four-part unison to CSNY-inspired group harmonies, underpinned by rich, carefully crafted soundscapes. The final product threads the collective memory of the four songwriters, nodding to the music of their parents’ generation while establishing a sound that is all their own.

After six years of playing together and a decade-plus of knowing each other, the band’s collaborative process has evolved side by side with their friendships. “We’ve become intimate with each other’s childhoods, families, fears, goals, insecurities and body odors,” Auyon notes. “That kind of closeness is typically limited to romantic relationships. It’s gotten to the point where we often mistake each other’s stories and memories for our own.” Birds Say is a patchwork of the artistic and personal visions of four equal songwriters—a mashup of their individual and collective experiences and dreams. “The process is so entangled,” Don says, “I sometimes can’t remember what I wrote, or what anyone else wrote. We don’t consider a song finished until we’re all satisfied with it. It may not be the fastest process, but we know that when we all agree on something, it’ll sound like us.”

Look for their newest album, Extralife, set to release on 2/23/18. Here’s an early look at the new album premiered on 2/15/2018 on NPR”s First Listen. You can listen to the whole album if you scroll down to the bottom of the interview.

Henry Jamison will open the show. Learn more about him HERE.
